When you are planning to go on a much needed spring break vacation with your family in California, you have a number of options to choose from. California is such a popular spring break destination that it has continued to develop different vacation options that cater to its wide range of visitors. A family of course would wish to enjoy a child friendly vacation adventure and California has a number of exciting destinations especially for kids.
One of the exciting attractions that a spring break vacation in California offers is its various amusement parks. The most famous of these is Disneyland. No kid would say no to a California spring break if it includes Disneyland. That alone may spark some excitement in your kid that they can’t wait to go already. But of course, there’s more that such spring break vacations in California can offer.
Aside from Disneyland, you can also bring your whole family to Legoland, an exciting amusement park that is mostly made out of Lego blocks. This park is located in Carlsbad which is about an hour’s drive south of Anaheim and 30 minutes north of San Diego. Legoland was built to cater to kids ages two to twelve and covers a huge 128 acre area that contains a number of exciting rides as well as mini-lands such as ancient Egypt that are made out of Lego blocks.
Another great spring break destination in California for the family is Monterey Bay. It is located on the coast of northern California about two hour’s drive south of San Francisco. Monterey Bay is home to the Cannery Row as well as the well known Fisherman’s Wharf. A stroll from Cannery Row to the Wharf, takes about half an hour and present a lot of exciting sights such as sea lions, harbor seals and sea otters frolicking in the area. The family may also head down to the Monterey Bay Aquarium where over 350,000 sea creatures are being kept. Other activities that the family can enjoy at Monterey Bay include a variety of water sports as well as whale watching which can be experienced between the months of March, April and May.
For a more quaint yet unique spring break vacation, the whole family can head down to the Alisal Guest Ranch and Resort. It is a 10,000 acre working ranch located in the Santa Ynez Valley, a good two hours drive north of Los Angeles and just 30 minutes north of Santa Barbara. If it is a unique outdoor adventure that your family needs, this is the place where you and your family may be able to enjoy horseback riding, fly fishing, kayaking or sailing on the lake. Other enjoyable activities in the ranch include golf, archery, biking as well as hiking. The ranch does not have television so the whole family would not be tempted to stay indoors and just hang around.
