Panama City Spring Break

sprink breakPanama City, Florida, is becoming the “in” place to experience that good ol’ American Spring Break. Its 27 miles of dazzling white beaches and unspoiled natural beauty is mixed with an outrageous nightlife, making it the modern mecca of Spring Break. Here are some great reminders that are helpful in getting around.

Drink on the beach – Drinking here is so fine in Panama City that it allows you to even bring a keg to the beach, but no glass bottles are permitted.

Student-friendly clubs – Panama City is home to large clubs and bars that also cater to students. Recommended are Spinnaker, Harpoon Harry’s, Sharky’s and Hammerhead Fred’s.

Hip events – Corporate-sponsored events are being held in Panama City during the day. Most of the activities and contests take place on the beach behind the Holiday Sunspree or over at the larger clubs.

Book a hotel room early – Especially if you want a hotel room that has a kitchen that most rooms have.

No departure taxes – Shelling out at least $95 a person for departure tax can be a downer. Good thing Panama City does not have any of it.

Drinking age, clubbing age – Drinking age in Florida is 21, but you can get into bars and clubs even if you are 18. These clubs are very strict when it comes to IDs.

Keep your alcohol properly – Florida does not allow open containers of alcoholic beverages in vehicles or within 50 feet of a thoroughfare.

Beachside fast food – You can purchase great-tasting and inexpensive fast food by the beachside, as well as in nearby supermarkets. The local mall and city stores are 15 minutes away, depending on the traffic.

Prepare yourself – Bring between $200-$300 spending money. Remember to protect yourself with SPF 15 sunblock during the day. And don’t forget to bring condoms.
