How to Choose a Cabin on a Cruise Ship

cruise ship cabinOn every vacation cruise, it is not only the experience and the destinations that matter. How you feel comfortable during the trip may also be important to make the vacation worthwhile. This can be provided by the accommodations that you choose during your cruise.

Choosing a cabin on a cruise ship would depend on your own personal preferences. The type of comfort that you require would help determine the type of accommodation that you wish to have on your vacation cruise. But generally, you have four options to choose from on most cruise ships.

Fist on the list of cabin options that you have is the inside cabins. There are standard and special inside cabins that may be available, depending on size and location. But they are similar in a way- they have no windows or portholes. Inside cabins are usually the least expensive that you can find in most cruise ships, with prices on the rooms depending mostly on location.

Most inside cabins are small and provide spartan but comfortable accommodations at the least.  For budget-conscious travelers, inside rooms might be the best option available on cruise ships. Inside cabins, due to their windowless and small nature, may not be ideal for travelers who are claustrophobic.

Then there is the outside ocean view cabin that you may want to check out. Outside cabins are usually the same layout and size as most standard inside cabins. Their difference is that these cabins have portholes or windows and provide an outside view of the ocean.

Most modern ships now provide bigger windows on their outside cabins for better viewing pleasure for its occupants. These windows usually cannot be opened. Prized a bit higher than most inside cabins, this might be the most affordable choice for the claustrophobic traveler, although going outside and exploring around the cruise ship more often would likely handle that problem just as easily.

For those who wish to experience some sea breeze from their accommodations, a cabin with balconies would be the likely choice. These cabins usually have their own sliding doors that offer occupants access to the outside. The sliding doors also offer you a view of the outside from anywhere in the cabin. Balcony cabins are also usually larger than the standard cabins and so may be priced higher. Such cabins also offer a small sitting area apart from the sleeping area itself, which can be great when entertaining friends.

For travelers who wish to travel in elegance and utmost comfort, there are also suites available on most cruise ships. These cabins are bigger in terms of space and are located in the best areas of the cruise ship. They have bigger rooms and bigger bathrooms that usually also include a bath tub aside from the shower. Suites offer the best amenities and comfort in the whole cruise. And for that, they can be the most expensive of the accommodation choices on the cruise ship.
