These magnificent monuments stood grand in the vast dessert of Egypt oblivious not of time, but the emptiness of the land. But then again, it stood proud bearing the treasure and wisdom of ancient civilization and history.

The pharaohs of Egypt viewed themselves as agents of the Gods. The Old Kingdom believed the Kings as the manifestations of Horus , the god of the sky and the son of Osiris. He is revered that the pyramids became their palace after their death.

The belief of the after life geared to the construction of the pyramids. Death on earth is the start of another journey to the next world thus, when a pharaoh dies, his body is embalmed and entombed underneath the pyramid.

The pyramid becomes their shelter and protection allowing the pharaoh’s transformation and ascension to the afterlife. He goes back to his place – that is among the Gods.

These pharaohs laid in deep slumber underneath the protecting shield of the pyramids. The Pyramids of Giza is considered as one of the seven wonders of the world.

Travelers are awed by the great monuments build 4500 years ago build near the rocky desert of the Nile. Built using 2,300,000 limestones blocks weighing 2.5 tons, it would truly astonish every man as how such structure was build.

The most intriguing of the pyramids however does not only lie in its infrastructure but the designs of these monuments. True enough, the pyramids stay as a mystery.

The pyramids can be visualized as having an adjoining mortuary temple where rituals took place. Moreover, “A causeway ran to a lower temple near the Nile floodplain that acted as an entrance to the complex.

The Giza necropolis also included pits for funerary boats, small subsidiary pyramids and numerous other tombs for the royal family and officials”. The pyramids of Giza includes three with the Pyramid of Khufu as the grandest. These three pyramids were build during the 3rd and 4th dynasty serving as the the main undertaking of these rulers.

Until today, the pyramids amaze the world. It has stimulated human imagination, have excavated, researched, studied, referred to with different names. The pyramids attest to ancient civilization seated at the Nile River.

The remains has attracted so many visitors to Giza since classical antiquity even appreciated by the Greeks in during the Hellenistic period. At present, the Pyramids of Giza is the only existing Ancient Wonders.

Egypt, in all its wonders, embrace the grandeur of pharaohs, of Gods, of the Sphinx, and of so much more that has contributed not only to human imagination but even to man’s search of his limitations.
